Executive Scientific Council of the 12th World Congress of Microcirculation held in Beijing, China in September of 2023.
Our laboratory's primary research areas include: exploring sex differences related to regenerative medicine in the heart, particularly in an aging model, developing cell-based therapies designed for a dysfunctional coronary microcirculation, and progressing adipose-derived tissue-engineering technology into pre-clinical research phases. Our most recent projects have led us to study how mitochondrial function in the endothelium contributes to overall vascular and cardiac health in aging.
The laboratory utilizes both in vivo and ex vivo models to evaluate cardiac and coronary vessel function (respectively), but also uses a wide variety of molecular biology approaches to evaluate specific changes in coronary signaling mechanisms as a result of ischemia and/or aging.
